Position Summary

Reporting to the Aquatic Supervisor, the Aquatic Attendants are responsible for assisting Aquatic Lifeguards and Swim Instructors during recreational swims and instructional lessons. They are responsible for the supervision of patrons using the slide (top of the slide position only). They will assist with customer service/public education, be knowledgeable of swimming regulations and be responsible for maintaining clean change rooms and pool deck areas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assisting Lifeguards and Swim Instructors with program delivery as required/directed.
  • Maintaining clean and safe change rooms and pool decks areas, ensuring equipment is set up and stored appropriately.
  • Supervising patrons at the top of the slide, ensuring policies and procedures concerning the use of the slide are enforced as per Health and Safety Promotions Act.
  • Follow all emergency procedures outlined in the Aquatic staff manual/guidelines.
  • Responding to inquiries, resolve problems, monitor and supervise change room activities and perform associated public education duties.
  • Maintain all qualifications and keep current copies on file at each work location.
  • Promote positive public relations at all times.
  • Wear the assigned uniform while on duty.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross.
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C
  • Minimum 15 years old.
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Ability to perform rescue skills at or above the Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross standard.
  • Be familiar with the City of Richmond Hill Aquatic emergency procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate the City’s corporate values of service, collaboration, care and courage.
