Position Summary

Reporting to the Aquatic Supervisor and Aquatic Coordinator, Aquatic Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching, delivering and evaluating the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life and Lifesaving programs in accordance with program standards. The Aquatic Swim Instructor will lead specific drills/instruction according to prepared lesson plans while creating a fun, safe and positive learning environment to participants of all ages.

Education and Experience
  • Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certification.
  • Current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor Certification.
  • Current Lifesaving Society Emergency First Aid Instructor Certification.
  • Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard (Pool) Certification.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR C.
  • Attend/complete all staff trainings for each work location.
  • Complete all Corporate trainings/certifications as required.

Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Ability to perform rescue skills at the Lifesaving Society’s National Lifeguard (Pool) standard.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Be familiar with and execute the City of Richmond Hill Aquatic emergency procedures.
  • Be familiar with the Lifesaving Society program standards for the Swim for Life and Lifesaving programs.
  • Demonstrates good judgment and makes sound decisions
  • Shows commitment to personal growth, development, and leadership opportunities
  • Shares new ideas and challenges the status quo
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with honesty, openness, respect, and trust
