Position Summary

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Sports League Convenor will be responsible to assist in the delivery and operation of the comprehensive league that will meet the needs of all participants.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the forming of equitable and balanced teams and league schedules.
  • Responsible for player skill evaluation and team level determination.
  • Communicate with all players regarding league rules, policies and schedules.
  • Responsible for league administration including, but not limited to, printing of game sheets, scorekeeping, updating standings and statistics, completion of accident/incident reports.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and report any discrepancies to the Program Coordinator
  • Monitoring play and enforcing disciplinary action or conflict resolution if required. 
  • Keep Program Coordinator informed in a timely manner about any conflict situations that arise.
  • Set up and take down of equipment where required.
  • Adhere to Department and Corporate Policies and Procedures.
  • Represent the City of Richmond Hill in a cooperative, organized, enthusiastic and well-groomed manner.
  • Maintain excellent public relations at all times.
  • Report to work 15 minutes before program to ensure the program is set up on time and 15 minutes after to clean up and talk to participants if required.
  • Maintain good communication with staff, volunteers, facility users and the Program Coordinator.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions prior to, during and outside regular programming hours.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-B
  • The successful applicant will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening.
     

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Minimum 1 year experience supervising a sports league.
  • Excellent working and practical knowledge of the game.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of league play
  • Officiating experience in this sport is an asset
