Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager Engineering Site Plans and Site Alterations, you will assist in providing technical support to the Infrastructure and Engineering Services Department - Infrastructure Planning and Development Engineering Division, on various types of land development applications and municipal infrastructure design.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following activities:
- Assist with the engineering plan review and the processing of development applications (site plans, severances, minor variances)
- Conduct site inspections and fieldwork assessments (pre and post development construction)
- Investigate and track complaints on project and construction related activities
- Liaise with applicants, contractors and internal departments on development applications
- Create/update CAD drawing for City Standards
- Perform calculations and queries in a spreadsheet and database environment
- Assist in the research of emerging trends and industry practices associated with high-rise construction andsustainable land development
- Maintain files and correspondence on active and completed projects
- Other administrative duties as required
Education and Experience
Enrollment in a Civil Engineering Technology program or a related discipline
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of municipal engineering design principles and construction methods
- Ability to analyze and read municipal engineering drawings with a good understanding of municipal infrastructure (i.e.; watermain, wastewater, storm sewer, roads, etc.)
- Proficient in AutoCAD, spreadsheet, database and word processing applications
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in an interactive team environment
- You demonstrate Richmond Hill’s corporate values of care, collaboration, courage and service
- Possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and have access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated)
- You will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance upon hire
- Possess your own CSA certified steel toe safety boots for fieldwork
