Position Summary

Reporting to the Fitness Supervisor and Fitness Coordinator, the Fitness Coach will be responsible for the provision of on-site supervision of members in the Fitness Centre area, including facility tours, orientations, gym supervision, exercise demonstration, member motivation, delivery of quality customer service and associated liaison duties.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, courteous tours to potential clients.
  • Respond to inquiries from and/or liaises with members, program participants and the general public.
  • Enforce Fitness Centre rules and procedures in a professional manner.
  • Monitor patrons using the fitness facility, observe exercise techniques and correct and/or advise on safe effective exercise principles.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrate safe use of each piece of equipment. Have working knowledge of all equipment and the benefits of using it
  • Inspect and clean fitness equipment to ensure safety and function.
  • Keep the floor area clean of any dumbbells, weight plates, or other equipment that is out of place.
  • Respond to First Aid emergencies in accordance to your First Aid Certification.
  • Maintain excellent public relations at all time, with staff and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • One or more of the following certifications: Kinesiology Degree; Fitness Diploma; Current Personal Training Specialist Certification with two or more years’ experience.
  • Emergency First Aid with CPR-C
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a fitness related discipline, including but not limited to: Group Exercise Instruction, Fitness Personal Trainer and Fitness Consultant

  • Ability to provide First Aid at the Emergency First Aid standard
  • Demonstrated experience working with the public in a fitness/gym environment.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
