Position Summary
Reporting to Supervisory staff in Public Works Operations, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of approved service levels across Richmond Hill’s network of roads and parks in addition to the safe and responsible operation of assigned vehicles and equipment. The ability to support a high level of customer service is mandatory
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform daily park sanitation, litter and illegal dumping clean-ups.
- Provide support for special events (examples include Canada Day, Rib Fest, Councilor and Community Events)
- General cleaning duties
- General maintenance and repair of municipal infrastructure (ex. waste containers)
- Respond to and assess emergency calls from clients (public/staff)
- Perform daily record keeping and log-book maintenance
- Able to respond to the site within 30 minutes of emergency calls
- Winter maintenance of facilities, sidewalks, and snow windrow clearing
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 3 years’ related experience
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification must be achieved within three (3) months of commencing the position
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Ability to work shifts and meet the mandatory requirements of "standby" in accordance with the provisions of the C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement and City Policies. The shifts and hours are subject to change at management’s discretion in accordance with the C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement.
- Notwithstanding the above standby provisions, the successful candidate will be required to be on call for the entire duration of the winter standby schedule (typically, the first week of November until the first week of April).
- A team player with well-developed customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and repair of municipal infrastructure and working knowledge of equipment would be considered an asset.
- Ontario Class "G" Driver’s License in good standing and must provide a satisfactory current Drivers Abstract from the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO)

- The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check within one month of commencing the position. This position is a member of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (C.U.P.E.).
