Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Roads Operations, the Summer Student-Roads will be responsible for the daily property maintenance of Roads throughout the City

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • General road maintenance inclusive of repairs to catch basins, manholes, boulevards, potholes, traffic control
  • Traffic signs (maintain and repair)
  • Stop bar and crosswalk line painting
  • Sign manufacturing and production
  • Technical fieldwork
  • Cleaning and maintenance of trucks/inventory/yard
Education and Experience
  • Be currently enrolled in a college or university as a full-time student and returning to school full time for the fall semester in September
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Previous experience working in a municipal setting outdoors would be considered an asset
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to deal with the public courteously and effectively
  • Must possess Green Patch CSA approved 8" safety boots
  • Be able to work outdoors during all weather conditions and available to work 7 days a week including holidays from April to September 2020 
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License
  • Upon employment you must provide a current satisfactory drivers abstract
