Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Application Services, the Systems Analyst - SAP provides high quality technical services to deliver and sustain the City’s SAP environment.  The Systems Analyst - SAP will lead the analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of new technology solutions in the SAP landscape in addition to providing daily support and enhancement of existing SAP business systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Interpret business requirements, perform analysis and translate functional requirements into technical system specifications
  • Architect SAP WRICEF solutions including design of Fiori front-end applications.
  •  Perform hands-on development, testing, maintenance and support of SAP software applications
  • Provide strong technical leadership to other application developers on the team including directing project and support activities
  • Perform application design and code reviews to ensure uniform standards are maintained
  • Write and maintain various systems documentation, change management procedures, operational support documents, training guides and release notes
  • Assist with the development of business cases, RFQ’s, RFP’s, statements of work, project charters, etc.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems as part of a continuous improvement strategy; recommend and implement improvements as appropriate
  • May assist with or lead the management of IT projects from planning through implementation
  • Provide Tier 2 SAP application support, identify remediation actions and manage the implementation of improvements
  • On-call/standby evenings and weekends are required – must be available to work evenings, flex shifts, extended hours and statutory holidays when required
Education and Experience
  • College Diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is an asset
  • Any SAP Certifications, such as ABAP, FIORI, BI/BW would be considered an asset
  • ITIL or PMP designation would be considered an asset
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • More than 5 years of hands-on SAP development experience including user exits, BADIs, BAPIs ,BTEs, Enhancement Points, Interfaces (EDI / ALE / IDOCS),RFCs, application interfaces (API) and workflows.
  • Experience developing FIORI applications and building role based groups and catalogs for the FIORI launch pad    and implementation of standard apps and extensions of standard apps
  • Experience with SAP Security / PI / Basis would be considered an asset.
  • At least 3 years experience leading the design and development of web-based and client/server enterprise-level software applications utilizing a variety of methodologies (Waterfall, RUP, Agile, SCRUM, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience in writing business and technical specifications including knowledge of business requirements gathering techniques and solution design documentation standards such as use cases, UML, etc.
  • Proven technical leadership experience within an IT project context to deliver business software solutions using formal project management practices
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms tailored to the audience; comfortable interacting with all levels of management and end users
  • Strong customer service orientation with experience acting as the prime technical resource when liaising with vendors and business users
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment while also working well independently as required
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills adept at effectively dealing with multiple competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies with ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies for introduction into a complex IT environment
  • Working knowledge of any of the following SAP modules as well as related integrations/interfaces would be an asset:  Success Factors, PI/PO, SAP SAC, SAP Payroll BOBJ, SAP BW, SAP BASIS
