Position Summary

The Systems Analyst will provide functional and technical consulting services to deliver and sustain a variety of business applications. The Systems Analyst will lead the requirements definition, analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of new technology solutions, in addition to providing support and enhancement of existing business applications

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Elicit and document business requirements, perform analysis and translate requirements into technical system specifications
  • Design technical solutions for in-house developed software applications including design of user interfaces, application components, databases, systems integration and required application infrastructure
  • Provide technical leadership to other application developers and support activities as well as perform development, testing, maintenance and support of software applications utilizing a variety of technologies
  • Collaborate with external vendors to plan, configure, deploy, and integrate a variety of third-party COTS business applications
  • Write and maintain various systems documentation and  perform regular application design and code reviews
  • Assist with the development of business cases, RFQ’s, RFP’s, statements of work, project charters
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems as part of a continuous improvement strategy
  • Provide Tier 2 application support and manage the implementation of improvements

Education and Experience

  • Diploma in Computer Science or related discipline, or combination of education and experience
  • Industry leading developer certifications (Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Cloudera/Hadoop, Oracle, Sales Force)
  • ITIL and PMP are considered assets
  • 3 to 5 Years progressive experience in a similar role

 

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Software development experience with a variety of programming languages, development platforms, and databases including:  Microsoft .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, Visual Basic, PHP, Java, JavaScript, and Oracle PL/SQL and Microsoft T-SQL 
  • Experience leading the design and development of web-based and client/server software applications utilizing a variety of methodologies (Waterfall, RUP, Agile, SCRUM, etc.) 
  • Experience in writing business and technical specifications
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies with ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies 
  • Proven experience with Integrated LIbrary System technologies such as SirsiDynix, Workflows, Online Catalogue and User Discovery Platform
  • Experience with web content management frameworks such as Drupal, Joomla, or DotNetNuke would be considered an asset 
  • Working knowledge of any of the following packaged applications would be an asset: SirsiDynix Symphony, BlueCloud Analytics, Self-Checks, Sortation Units
  • Proven technical leadership experience using formal project management practices  
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts 
  • Strong customer service orientation 
  • Strong problem solving, facilitation and interpersonal skills 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to consistently meet deadlines
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License, and have access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated)
