Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Content & Strategy Delivery, the Content Manager leads RHPL’s digital content planning, creation, coordination, execution and distribution, in support of RHPL’s strategic plan and departmental and program objectives. 

 Your Role and Responsibilities: 

The successful candidate will play a lead role in the development, production, management, and distribution of content across all RHPL channels.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Content

  • Provide leadership and innovative thinking in the development, production, management, distribution, execution and adoption of the Library’s digital content across all RHPL digital channels, including social media, web, email, in-branch, mobile, as well as emerging channels, platforms and technologies.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify business objectives and develop and produce meaningful content for RHPL’s digital channels that are on-brand and on-strategy
  • Coordinate the production / publishing of various digital collateral, such as newsletters, articles, videos, and reports to the website and amplification via social platforms
  • Manage content on our web sites, social platforms, while continuously looking for ways to optimize the digital client experience journey
  • Create and maintain a content calendar to coordinate content creation and delivery across all RHPL digital channels
  • Develop and champion new processes with internal stakeholders to ensure best-in-class, customer-first, accessible and compelling digital content
  • Craft compelling, interesting and creative stories to a range of personas, while facilitating online engagement through digital marketing tools
  • Proposing and piloting new digital content ideas to increase internal and external awareness of key events and information, including the launch of new resources, announcements of events, and other relevant topics of interest

Web

  • Uses the CMS to publish content to RHPL’s website, including embedding related multimedia and transcripts, and copyediting and formatting text for consistency and style
  • Uses knowledge of HTML, CSS, and/or Javascript to diagnose and integrate quick fixes to website
  • Helps manage developers, designers, and engineers to maintain RHPL’s website, storage, archive, and technical platforms

Analytics

  • Produce reporting and analytics on key digital engagements (social media activity, website analytics, newsletters, emails, etc.) – producing insights that provide actionable outcomes
  • Lead analytics function, including metric tracking, benchmarking, analysis and reporting on digital engagements to identify value and determine content relevance.

Education and Experience

  • University or college degree in digital production, marketing, Communications, journalism, or multimedia storytelling, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in content planning, content production, community management, or digital marketing
  • Experience with web publishing tools and basic understanding of html, css, and/or javascript

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Superior command of platform-specific digital-storytelling and multimedia-presentation techniques
  • Ability to establish priorities and work effectively under pressure to meet tight and shifting deadlines
  • Innovation, idea generation, and interest in learning new skills
  • Ability to write clearly, journalistically, and engagingly
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and hand off elements to other team members
  • Solid understanding of Google Analytics and other software used to measure performance
  • Thorough and strategic understanding of social media, particularly Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Solid understanding of SEO best practices, including headline writing and file structure
  • Research and analytical skill-set – ability to assess data to derive key insights
